August 2023: The newest edition of the Road Surface Handbook, written by Managing Member, John B. Ferris, has been shared on the Road Scholar Solutions website.  This edition has refined concepts on lateral force generation by the tire and introduces longitudinal force generation.  For more information and to read this edition of the Handbook, follow this link.

June 2023: The newest edition of the Road Surface Handbook, written by Managing Member, John B. Ferris, has been shared on the Road Scholar Solutions website.  This edition has refined concepts on Orthogonality and Bases as well as the process and usefulness of casting transverse profiles as vectors.

April 2023: A new edition of the Road Surface Handbook, written by Managing Member, John B. Ferris, has been shared on the Road Scholar Solutions website.  This edition has refined concepts on the nature of data and statistics, the surface grid, and the tire contact patch.  It includes a new chapter on Orthogonality and Bases and a brief preview of casting transverse profiles as vectors.

January 2023: The first edition of a Reference Book on Road Surfaces, written by Managing Member, John B. Ferris, has been shared on the Road Scholar Solutions website.

September 2022:  The National Academies presented a Transportation Research Board Webinar: Strategies to Improve the Quality of Pavement Condition Data on September 22nd.  Managing Member, John B. Ferris, gave the closing presentation and served on subsequent panel discussion.

April 2022: Managing Member, John B. Ferris, Ph.D. presented on "Implementation of Transverse Pavement Profile Related AASHTO Standards for Rutting Measurements" at RPUG on Wednesday, April 26th.

September, 2020: Road Scholar Solutions was contracted by Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc (QES) to consult on a 4 year project with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) On Transverse Profiler Certification.  Looking forward to working with QES and the FHWA on implementing the certification standards around the US.
